Our story began in 1997 when the original owners of the company were operating out of a 200 square meter factory in Glen Anil, Durban, producing a milk powder blend for the retail and catering markets under the brand name “Supa Dairymel”.
Over a period of time, they managed to get it listed in every major retail group operating in KwaZulu Natal.
The product grew to such an extent that they decided to move to bigger premises and add powdered juices and lollies mixes to the product range. These were sold to the retail market in 400g sachets as well as to the bulk market on tender in 5Kg and 25 Kg sacks.
At that stage the company changed hands and the new owner, Hans Westhof, took a more holistic view of the business and its future role in the food industry.
He decided to position the company as a food packaging plant, specialising in powder mixes packaged in plastic sachets and tubs. This vision immediately gave rise to a new product development program and the company was soon manufacturing soup, soya and spices under the “Supa” label for the retail market and under the “Nutri-Bulk” label for the tenders to government school children feeding schemes, prisons etc.
Hans and his team of handpicked senior managers worked tirelessly towards realising our vision of being “The Most Dynamic Organisation in the Southern African Food Packaging Industry”.
